LEVEL I ENTRY LEVEL OPERATOR/SORTER:

1. Basic oral and written communications skills
2. Mechanical aptitude
3. Good organizational skills
4. Able to lift 24.4 kilo

Employees at this level are either entry level employees in a multi-purpose mailing environment who receive instruction in the operation and adjustment of the full range of mailing service equipment and postal rules, procedures, and regulations or are primarily limited to the set up, operation, and adjustment of a limited variety of mailing service equipment and do not require a knowledge of postal rules, procedures, and regulations.

LEVEL II - INTERMEDIATE OPERATOR:

• sets up, operates, and makes operational adjustments to and minor repairs on mailing service equipment (such as Buskgro Inkjet addressing machines, inserting machines and high speed folding machines)
• analyzes the cause of equipment malfunctions and makes corrective operational adjustments to allow continuance of operations or calls for repair personnel.
• receives and organizes materials to be processed
• stuffs, sorts, containerizes, and performs other work necessary in the preparation of mail materials for distribution in the Canada Post network
• may supervise lower level staff as assigned.

LEVEL III - SENIOR OPERATOR:

Responsible for the daily physical operation of mailing machines and responsible for the operation of complex equipment enabling the position to act as a technical support specialist in the area. This may include supervising positions at an entry to intermediate level, coordinating production of numerous jobs with operations manager, determining workload for proper completion of jobs, and maintaining records including inventory of mailing service equipment/supplies
